I love this excerpt. A good majority of the people that I have talked to have viewed artists in this light, minus the unwashed part. When mankind is faced with things that they don't understand they tend to label it crazy and like anything in life if you don't try it then you'll never understand it.
The articles view on attitudes is unique too:
"For artists and audience members alike, attitudes reveal little about issues, but a great deal about the person who possesses them."I wouldn't consider this an attitude over taste but it can be seen as either or I guess. Whether people like your work or not and whether or not it matters to the artists or not is entirely up to the one who creates the work and the one who views it. We all have our own taste in things and what we like and what we don't like.
