Class Questions

1: Why clay and not something more permanent?
  • I like working in clay and the more I work with it the more I am becoming familiar with it so each new little creature is more sturdier then the next. Plus I dont really have the funds at the moment to make them out of metal or more permanent things. But then again are things really permanent?
2: How many are you planning on making?
  • I am not sure. As many as I can I guess. I'd like to make it to a hundred if I can, we'll see. The number isn't significant to me but can you imagine 100 little creatures they'd overrun the place ^_^
3: Are you planning on coloring them?
  • I dont think so. I have gotten mixed reviews and still continue to get mixed reviews. So I think I will keep them the white that they dry into. It'll force viewers to get closer to see whats going on.
4: What is the significance of some having hoods and others not having hoods?
  • Originally it was supposed to be the ones with hoods were sides of me that I don't show people. But the more that I did the more I realized that some looked better with hoods and some looked better without.
5: How are you able to keep making so many without getting bored or wanting to move on?
  • I have a very active imagination and it takes a lot for me to eventually get bored with something. Plus this is very meditative for me. It allows me to zone out and just create things for the sake of creating.
6: Do you have reference photos or are these strictly from your head?
  • All of my creatures are from my head. They may reference things that I have seen or felt but each one comes from my head.
7: Are you going to name them?
  • I have been naming them off of the first thing to pop into my head and for the most part it seemed right. Now whether or not I am going to put a plaque with their names and picture on it I have no decided yet.
8: Why are some faces textured and some are not?
  • Its the same thing with the hoods. I would just have the urge to make them either textured or some smooth, some in between
